• The hotels are usually full for April and October due to expositions and conventions.
• Hotel prices rise on weekends. It would be better to make reservations at least one week in advance.
• Find out the Check-in and Check-out time of the hotel you chosen to stay in before hand. Any goof up could lead you shelling out booking charges for an extra day.
• You can do some last minute negotiations with the hotels before you leave home. Hotels running empty rooms might give you good discount. After all who would like to keep the room empty when a prospective guest is himself asking for an accommodation?
• Check about all the facilities a hotel offers. Also find out if there are any hidden charges.
• Negotiate rates with the hotels. They could offer you good discount.
• If you plan to work in your hotel room, ask for a room away from the hotel pool region. You would be able to escape pool noise.
• Bellboys, porters, restroom attendants and waiters would expect to be given some loose change. This would be other than a 10 per cent service charge.
• Locate all the fire exits, elevators and public phones. Better be ready for an emergency.
• When anybody knocks or rings the doorbell, first check his/her identity befor you open the door.
• Bolt the door properly before you go to sleep.
