People of various religious affiliations co-exist together. Various religious practices in Hong Kong are Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism and Judaism.

Three Major Religions
Three religions having the most influence on the people of Hong Kong are Buddhism from India, and Taoism and Confucianism from China. Most inhabitants in Hong Kong are under the influence of one of these religious streams. People of Hong Kong follow ancestral worship as a way of honoring the dead ancestors.

Law Protecting Religious Freedom
Law in Hong Kong protects and respects freedom of religious belief. Every citizen of Hong Kong enjoys the freedom to believe in, or not to believe in, any religion. The citizens have been given the right to adopt or reject a religious belief. Religion has been kept separate from government policies and education. The law regards that believing in or not believing in religion is a person's personal affair, and no state organ, public organization or individual may put pressure on any citizen in this regard. However, they have to follow the duties prescribed by law.
